Breast Enlargement

Breast augmentation involves the placement of usually a silicone gel or saline implant behind the breast tissue (submammary) or under the chest wall (pectoral) muscle (subpectoral). The insertion of an implant will push the breast tissue forward, making the breast appear larger and fuller. Most women opt for a natural-appearing result so that they fill out their clothes better, whilst others want their breast profile out of proportion to their body.

Breast augmentation is ideal in mums who have lost breast volume combined with some 'stretching out' of the breast skin. Insertion of an implant will 'fill up' the deflated breast. If the breast skin is stretched excessively, then a breast lift may also be required (called augmentation mastopexy). Incisions can be well placed and concealed either in the fold below the breast, in the armpit or around the areola. The implants are placed subpectorally usually in slender, small breasted women which helps conceal the edges of the implant in the cleavage area. In most other cases, the implants are inserted in the submammary position.
